This is certainly a heartwarming moment.
As we all know, many Malaysians are working in our neighbouring country, Singapore. They lead a hard life as they will need to be separated from their families just to earn money.
Ever since the MCO started, many Malaysians were stuck in Singapore and could only see and communicate with their loved ones through calls and videos.
Taking note of that, Johor politician, Liow Cai Tung tried her best and managed to reunite nine children with their eight parents who are working in Singapore. What ensues is an ocean of tears.
The nine children, with the youngest being six months and the oldest being four-years-old, were given special permission from the Immigration departments of both countries (Malaysia & Singapore) to travel to Singapore to reunite with their parents on 26 September. These children came from Ipoh, Pahang, Selangor and Johor.
Liow also recounted a story involving the six-month-old baby.
Three days after this baby’s birth, his father needed to go back to work in Singapore. His mother left to Singapore too after her confinement of a month. The baby was taken care of by an aunt and his parents made plans to go back every weekend. Once MCO started, their plans were thwarted and they could only watch their baby grow up virtually.
Liow was praised by the netizens for helping to reunite the families just in time for the Mid-Autumn Festival. The families are super thankful towards her that they even sent her cute family selfies!
This is such a great effort! We wish these families the best and we would like to thank Liow for helping them out!
