Advertising and marketing undoubtedly plays a huge part in attracting potential customers, which could translate into sales and profits.
However, sometimes it doesn’t mean that the most expensive methods do it best especially when a recent TikTok video of a nasi kukus stall went viral after netizens had spotted their out-of-the-box marketing tactic to get customers.
According to the video posted by customer @ad who had bought food from the stall, they were offering customers free candies and cigarettes with every purchase of a meal!
What a creative way of advertising!
The video has gone viral on TikTok and has garnered over 210,500 views and 19,800 likes at the time of writing.
Although it might not be the healthiest of choices to offer free cigarettes, it seems that the marketing tactic worked as netizens loved the creative thinking behind the idea and asked the video owner about the stall’s location.
“Where is the stall. I want to go,” said a user.
And in case if you were wondering, the nasi kukus stall is located nearby PPR Pekan Batu, Batu 5, Jalan Ipoh, KL.
Several users were impressed by the brand of cigarettes offered for free as they weren’t the cheapest.
“A packet of red LDs… not U2… seems like the (stall owner) is sincere and genuine,” commented a user.
Not just about the cigarettes
Meanwhile, a couple of the stall’s loyal customers told other users not to go to the stall for the free cigarettes but actually for the food as it is delicious.
“(Wow) this stall still exists. Has been a while since I’ve eaten there,” said a user.
Another netizen commented that the nasi kukus there is delicious and rated it as the best nasi kukus in KL.
