A group of mysterious masked men appeared out of nowhere in Bukit Bintang and Puchong recently. Their agenda? Distributing free food such as chickens and eggs to the passerby.
Given the expensive prices of the ingredients, getting them for free undoubtedly helps and the masked men assured the public that they don’t expect anything in return. In their recent TikTok post @xyzteamproject, the team said they observed a common ongoing event online conducted by Malaysian influencers – giving out free iPhones on social media.
While the team did not deny the influencers’ kindness, they believe the aid could’ve come in another form.
“It’s better to focus on basic necessities. An iPhone that costs thousands can only make 1 person happy.”
To the team, it’s all about the value and usage of the things that are given away to the public.
“If the iPhone is replaced with something more beneficial, it can actually keep hundreds of people happy.”
Aside from eggs and raw chickens, the team recently visited a housing area in Taman Medan, PJ to give out free seafood – Barramundi Fish (Ikan Siakap). We don’t need to remind you just how expensive seafood can be today, especially at times with uncertainties in the weather.
The residents were seen accepting the free fish in the team’s latest TikTok video, as well as free rice to residents in another area. With the costs spent for these giveaways, the team does not expect anything in return and makes sure that the public doesn’t label them as influencers or celebrities.
“We’re not influencers, we’re not celebrities. We’re nobody.”
@xyzteamproject Kami menyeru kepada influencer dan mereka yang berpengaruh di sosial media.
As of now, the team of mysterious masked men has yet to announce their next stop. Regardless, we’re just glad to see some Malaysians are stepping out of their comfort zones to help the needy without expecting anything in return.
What else do you wish to see the masked men distribute?
