Residents of a Muar neighbourhood in Johor had the shock of their lives when a large number of RM50 and RM100 notes were discovered scattered on the road on Monday morning (March 10). The amount is estimated to be more than RM10,000.
According to a report by Sin Chew Daily, a passerby stumbled upon the money at around 5am, after which others, too, stopped at the sight of the cash.

Wondering how the money even got there in the first place, one resident decided to check the CCTV footage from their home.
They then noticed a dog, at around 1am the same day, carrying a grey plastic bag.
Residents believe this was the same plastic bag that contained the money as they found a similar looking one by the side of the road where the money was discovered.
The residents of the area then speculated that the dog may have taken the plastic bag from somewhere and torn it apart, causing the money to fall out and get scattered by the wind.
Who does the money belong to?
However, what puzzled them the most was that no one had come looking for the money nor posted anything about missing money.
This led many to become suspicious about the origins and purpose of the money, causing them not to touch the potential ‘ill-gotten gains’.

While one person picked up some of the money and placed it in front of a house, another person, who had picked up more than RM6,000, waited several days for someone to claim it. When no one did, they donated the amount to several schools and charities.
