Recently, a video of a small cockroach crawling inside the food display at an Empire Sushi outlet was shared on TikTok.
After the video went viral, many netizens criticised the sushi chain for its lack of food hygiene.
However, just a day after sharing the initial video, Empire Sushi responded to the complaints and performed a deep cleaning at the affected outlet.
In a video shared by Empire Sushi’s TikTok account, they apologised for the incident and announced the temporary closure of their Sunway Pyramid outlet for a thorough deep cleaning and specialised pest control treatment.
The video showed staff members discarding food stock, washing and wiping down surfaces and deep cleaning the food display with pest control treatment.
Despite the initial criticisms, netizens were glad about Empire Sushi’s transparency and praised them for being readily accountable to their customers.
“Crazy respect, immediately take action to clean everything.”
Another commented, “At least they took responsibility and said sorry.”
