The Covid-19 pandemic that surfaced more than two years back rendered the world idle, with many events canceled and people being asked to stay indoors to curb the spread of the virus.
As the pandemic has shown signs of improvement and people have started to live with the new norms, the world sees itself “returning back to life”. After two years without a proper celebration of Independence Day in Malaysia, the celebration this year seemed to be done on a “grand scale” and so far, the reception from fellow Malaysians has been overwhelmingly positive.
Berita RTM took to its Instagram page and shared multiple images of crowds gathering in Dataran Merdeka and according to the captions, the excited Malaysians started to gather at the place as early as five in the morning today (August 31).
The crowds were there to witness the celebration and performance of of Malaysia’s 65th Independence Day celebrations.
As you can see from the images above, Malaysians started to gather on the road and Dataran Merdeka itself before sunrise.
In the meantime, folks in KL are not the only ones celebrating the 65th anniversary of Independence Day. In Penang, a whopping 20,000 visitors were present at Padang Kota Lama, Georgetown to be part of the celebration of this historical day.
Despite the blazing sun, it did not deter the will of both the performers and the visitors to be present and make this historical day a meaningful and memorable one.
Happy 65th Independence Day, Malaysia! We’ve made it this far, so let’s unite, put our differences aside and make Malaysia great again!
