Seeing dark skies when it’s going to rain is nothing unusual especially when it’s close to evening, but for day to literally look like the night when it’s still afternoon, that’s really scary. Just two days ago on October 22nd, Siakap Keli shared that the skies suddenly turned black in the middle of the day in Sungai Petani, Kedah and the residents were freaking out.
Many concerned netizens were sharing photos of the dark and stormy skies captured in the middle of the day. They were worried that when the heavens opened, some natural disaster was going to happen as we have been experiencing rainy weather recently.
You can see the dark clouds slowly overtaking the light skies in some of the photos and to be honest, it does look pretty apocalyptic. A few other netizens from other parts of Malaysia also said that they were experiencing the same thing.
Some of them were praying and hoping that everything would be alright as it looked really scary to see the sky this dark when it was still noon. This phenomenon also coincides with the Northeast Monsoon making its appearance as the Malaysian Meteorological Department has made an announcement.
They have informed that this monsoon period is expected to start from today (October 24th) until March 2020, which will bring four to six bouts of heavy rain. This can potentially cause floods in low-lying areas, with strong winds causing the South China Sea to be choppy and dangerous.
They explained that heavy rains are expected to hit Kelantan, Terengganu, Pahang and Johor from October to January next year while Sabah and Sarawak will be experiencing heavy downpour from January to February next year. Malaysians are advised to be prepared and stay safe during this monsoon season.
