There are many ways for Malaysians to access our neighbouring country, Singapore and by far the most popular ways to do so are by car or by shuttle train.
In the most recent news regarding travelling to Singapore, KTMB has released a statement saying that Malaysians can now enjoy an RM5 fee, one-way from JB Sentral to Woodlands, Singapore, and vice versa. This starts from August 1 but the shuttle tickets can be purchased beforehand starting from February 29.
As of now, Malaysians are paying RM5 for the ticket from JB Sentral to Woodlands, Singapore while the ticket from Woodlands to JB Sentral costs them 5 SGD (RM17.70), reported BERNAMA.
“The readjustment of this fare rate will benefit approximately 40,000 Malaysian citizens who rely on the railway service mode for commuting between JB Sentral and Woodlands, they will no longer need to pay the S$5 fare from Woodlands.“
For Malaysians to enjoy this privilege, they will need to register for an account on the KTMB Mobile application (KITS). Then they would need to verify their identity by using their IC at a ticket kiosk (TVM) or ticket counters throughout the KTMB network.
As this will probably cause an influx in registration and verification, KTMB will open up additional counters at JB Sentral from 19 February to March 1.
This is certainly a great move that will benefit Malaysians!
