According to NST, this is a second-generation app known as ‘Respons Rakyat’ (RR 2.0) which will enable the people to raise any issues with the relevant agencies. Some of these include ministries, departments, state governments, local authorities as well as government-linked utility companies.

The app was launched yesterday (18th July), by Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad himself at a special event that was held at the Prime Minister’s Office. In a statement by the Public Complaints Bureau (PCB), the people can use the app to channel their complaints to the 460 government departments which include 25 ministries, 257 federal agencies, 13 state secretary offices, 149 local authorities, and 16 utility companies. That’s a lot!

“The RR 2.0 will replace RR1.0 which was developed by the bureau in May 2016. The new version has the ability to upload videos and audio files, while only images and documents could be uploaded in the older version. Apart from that, the new RR Messenger service will also keep the complainant notified of any new messages. In the older version complainants could only lodge complaints via calls and emails,” they said.

In addition, this version allows the people to follow up on their issues and investigations on the app while customer satisfaction surveys are also done through the app as well. These are new features in the improved version to enable easier communication that wasn’t available in the older version.

PCB states that the RR1.0 received 2,089 complaints from May 2016 to 31st December 2018, which shows that people are putting the app to use. PCB said that the amount of total complaints received has been increasing steadily from year to year, so they were confident that this new version would be well-received.

“From the amount, a total of 48.6 percent or 1,016 complaints were directed to local authorities, followed by 26.6 percent or 555 complaints to ministries and government agencies, 19 percent or 354 complaints towards state government agencies and 7.9 percent or 164 complaints to private companies, government-linked companies, and private companies,” the statement explained.

You can download the free mobile app from Apple App Store and Google Play Store. Do note that you will need to register for an account to lodge a complaint!
