We all know that not all Malaysians are allowed to touch dogs, but what about being in the same vicinity as dogs?

Well, recently, a couple of doggies were spotted with their owners at the waterfront Esplanade in Penang. As showcased by Penang Kini, they were not happy with the dogs’ presence at the location.

They wrote, “At Esplanade, Padang Kota. It feels like they (the dogs) really should not be there and it’s unreasonable to bring the dogs along.”

Netizens, on the other hand, are divided on the issue. Some are agreeing that it is unwise to bring the dogs to the public place…

“I can’t give them the benefit of the doubt anymore. Indeed people like this have no respect for the sensitivities of other religions.”

Pets 3

“I request for the authorities to prohibit people from bringing dogs or other pets to public places.”

…but others don’t see anything wrong with it.

Pets 4

“Normally dogs that are reared like this, well trained by owners. Every ethnicity has rights, there’s no need to make this an issue.”

Pets 5

“We must all be united as Malaysians and respect each other. It is not wrong to bring dogs out for walks as long cleanliness and the safety of others are cared for.”

What do you think? Should pet owners be able to bring their dogs out for walks at public places or should they be confined to only dog parks?
