On May 15 (Thursday), a 27-year-old woman was arrested after she was suspected of staging a fake robbery at a house in Pahang.
According to Sinar Harian, Pekan police chief Mohd Zaidi Mat Zin said the woman, who’s a housewife, had actually lodged a report back in March claiming she was robbed by knife-wielding masked men.

The incident reportedly happened while the woman was at her mother-in-law’s house in Felda Chini Timur.
Zaidi further revealed that the so-called robbers ran off with jewellery worth RM12,000, which belonged to her mother-in-law.
“She claimed four masked men robbed her, but after further investigation, we found that she had actually conspired with her accomplices to steal the jewellery,” he said.

Zaidi added how the woman used the money from selling the stolen jewellery to pay her accomplices and settle debts with loan sharks.
She and the male accomplices, aged between 27 and 36, were successfully arrested in separate raids.
Four of them tested positive for methamphetamine and had prior criminal records involving robbery, drug use, and housebreaking.
“Police also seized three mobile phones, a necklace, a bracelet, clothing, a knife, bank cards, and pawn shop documents,” he said.
