27-year-old Farah Liana Safri from Pahang was excited to receive her first salary before tragedy struck on Monday night (8th July). Farah had just finished the first month of her job at the Department of Statistics in Bentong.
The victim’s stepfather, Izzuddin Ismail, told Sinar Harian that Farah went to Jerantut with her older sister, 31-year-old Nurul Azwana Safri, to go shopping and buy food for her sister. They both travelled to town in a Perodua Viva driven by Nurul Azwana.
However, while on their way home at around 8.50pm via Jalan Kampung Lata Kasah, a roadside tree uprooted and fell onto their vehicle, instantly killing Farah, who was in the front passenger seat. Meanwhile, Nurul Azwana survived but suffered injuries.

Izzudin added,
“She (Farah) was such a cheerful person who was loved by her family and friends. We are accepting this sudden loss, but it’s painful for us because she was so close to all of us.”
According to the New Straits Times, the two sisters were trapped in the vehicle and required the assistance of firefighters and police to extract them.
Now, Farah, who was the youngest of five siblings, was buried at the Kampung Baru cemetery earlier today (9th July).
Our condolences go out to Farah’s family and hope that they can find the strength to endure such a sudden and heartbreaking loss.
