The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) has announced that it will be conducting an internal investigation after a recent viral video claiming that the Ipoh district police headquarters refused to accept an individual’s police report.
In a statement yesterday, Ipoh police chief ACP Yahaya Hassan said that PDRM welcomes all feedback given by the public and has referred the matter to its Integrity and Standards Compliance division for further action.
However, the statement stressed,
“The Ipoh district PDRM (Royal Malaysian Police) would like to stress that the police have never and will never stop anyone from lodging a police report at any police station nationwide.”
The Ipoh police chief further advised the public to not speculate on the content of the video till it affects the internal probe.
The statement was in reference to a video by the Malaysian man who went viral recently for his determination to take down loan shark ads.
In the video, reposted by Twitter user @nanmajoi8715, the man claimed that a police officer at the Ipoh district police headquarters refused to accept his police report.
The man said that he made the report for his safety, presumably because he may be targeted by loan sharks in retaliation for his actions of tearing down their ads.
As of the time of writing, the video is no longer publicly listed on the man’s TikTok account. You can watch the whole video here:
