During the US President’s visit to Malaysia last weekend for the 47th ASEAN Summit, he was accompanied and protected by a team of skilled Secret Service agents and bodyguards.
A Malaysian man, who was also assigned duties at the historic event, managed to have a brief conversation with one of the Secret Service agents from the United States. During their chat, he shared one of his travel dreams.
“I’ve always wanted to go to New York City. The place looks great.”

While the Big Apple may seem appealing to many, the Secret Service agent had a different opinion. He told the Malaysian man what he really thought of the city.
“Bukit Bintang is better. It’s cleaner and safer than New York, which can be dirty and has thieves.”
The Malaysian man, who wished to be identified only as Smokey, said he was surprised by the agent’s response. In a viral Threads post, Smokey shared the conversation and asked others who have visited New York City to weigh in and “verify” the agent’s comments.
He was proud for a moment
In a conversation with WORLD OF BUZZ, Smokey said that for a brief moment, he felt proud to hear Bukit Bintang being praised over New York City.

He also shared that after Donald Trump left Malaysia for Japan on 27 October, most of his bodyguards and Secret Service agents remained in the country for another day to pack their belongings. Smokey, who worked as a driver during the 47th ASEAN Summit, was tasked with escorting Trump’s security team around.
Smokey added that he received a few souvenirs from the agents as farewell gifts.
To those who have been to New York or other countries, what do you think of this?
