Parents bear a giant responsibility once they decide to bring children into the world. Aside from attending to their every need, it’s impossible to express just how crucial mothers and fathers are to their kids’ life. However, one Malaysian who did not get the chance to see his father in more than two decades recently had to chance to reconnect for the first time after spending years apart.

TikTok creator Safwan Sharom recently shared a video of this instance to his page @babybrown911. In the clip, which was taken in Tanjung Tiram, Indonesia, Safwan captured the moment a father rode in on his motorcycle through the rain. Stopping his vehicle outside a house, the man quickly took off his raincoat before walking briskly into the home.

With a smile on his face, the man was then approached by his grown son, whom he had not seen in 24 years. Embracing each other, the father couldn’t help but break down into a puddle of tears, wiping his eyes before the two took a seat on the floor. As relatives gathered around the duo, the man put his arm around his child, embracing him gently before the clip ended.

“If God wills it, then they will meet again,” wrote Safwan in the caption of his post.

In a brief conversation with WORLD OF BUZZ, Safwan revealed that the grown man in the video is a relative of his wife, who is from Indonesia. According to Safwan, the man’s parents had split up when he was just three years old, and his father, who is from Indonesia, returned to his home country shortly after, while the now-grown man stayed with his mother in Malaysia.

“I accompanied him to visit his dad in Indonesia just a few days ago. It was a very emotional reunion. They will definitely come together and visit each other again in the future, just that no exact date has been determined yet,” said Safwan to WORLD OF BUZZ.

Garnering a massive response online, many Malaysians expressed how much sorrow they felt after watching the video, while others said that this must have been a long-awaited reunion for the father and son.

It is better to be loved from afar than being near and uncared for,” touchingly wrote one user.

While no living parent and child should ever have to spend years apart from one another, we hope this father and son will work towards building a relationship that is stronger than ever.
