Unfortunately, you often get unsatisfactory food when buying snacks from roadside stalls. However, it seems that sometimes, the food from roadside alternatives can be better than that of franchises.

Taking to TikTok, a netizen recently responded to a statement on his previous video, slamming an SG-based vadai franchise, which did not suit his tastebuds.

Responding to the comment, “Seriously, it’s just vadai. How awesome do you want it to be?”, this man passionately posted his rebuttal for the world to see. He then compared the vadai he got from the franchise to the ones found on roadsides.

“You all made me go out in the morning to get Vadai. Here is the comparison between this franchise and a roadside Vadai. The roadside Vadai , can you see its structure? 80% Vadai, 20% air. This franchise, 70% Vadai, 30% air.”

He went on to explain his thoughts.  “When you compare it side-by-side, you understand why I likened this franchise’s Vadai to cucur udang.”

“Chill Singaporeans. Chill. When I made the criticism, I thought I was slamming a Malaysian brand. So, I was harsh to something that I thought was Malaysian. Not everything is an attack on Singapore. Does this mean that the vadai is not good? No, it is sedap!”

“It’s just that this lacks dhall and herbs that make the roadside Vadai good,” he explained.
