We simply love social media, especially those that add value to what we know about our boys in blue.
Taking to TikTok, this netizen did just that after taking the time to talk to officers, to give us more information and understanding of the uniforms they wear, either during operations or official events involving the public
“So what’s the difference between those who tuck in their uniforms and those who do not? Can they do so of their own free will?”
An officer who was on site answered, “Normally those who do not tuck in their uniforms are the officers and above, SI (Sub-Inspector) and SM (Sergeant Major).”
“It is known as the bush jacket.”
Taking his questioning to the Melaka Police officers, the officers there shared, “The uniforms that are tucked in, are our day-to-day uniforms. The main reason why it is like this is because this has been the way to show our discipline when wearing out uniforms, hence why it is a part of our dress code.”
“For those who you see, do not tuck in their uniforms is not because they do not want to do so. The bush jacket uniform is more suited to those wearing around the office. The tucked in uniforms are meant for operations.”
“There is also a uniform known as ‘clear order’. That is meant for marching. The only difference between that and the daily uniforms we use are the shoes and the big belts.”
The officers add that these uniforms are meant to be used by officers only, and should not be a fashion item for us civilians.
