Flies do a big job in the environment by chowing down on rotting stuff so we don’t have to deal with it. But let’s be real, they’ve got a talent for being super annoying.
TikTok user @farahahalyssa has been making waves online with her mission of getting rid of flies that have been swarming around the whole neighborhood, including her own home in Perak.
In the video, a large number of dead flies can be seen after Farah set up a sticky trap in front of her home. The sight of the flies caught is definitely sending shivers down everyone’s spines.
Speaking to WORLD OF BUZZ, Farah revealed how had just moved in the neigbourhood 3 weeks ago. The caption of her post reads,
“I’m so stressed with all these flies! Does anyone have any tips? I’ve tried using lemongrass scent, but it only works for a bit, and then the flies would often come back.”
She wasn’t the only one experiencing the fly infestation…
Farah went on to explain that everyone in the neighbourhood is currently dealing with the same issue, trying different ways to get rid of the flies.
She mentioned using up to 30 pieces of sticky traps in a single day and trying other alternatives like mopping the floor with lemongrass scented detergent.
“I go through over 30 sticky traps a day. I’ve even resorted to mopping the floors with lemongrass scented detergent and buying a lemongrass scented candles.”
Farah theorised that the fly infestation is probably due to how the neighborhood is facing the oil palm plantations and its relatively close location to the chicken farm.
She is seeking help from netizens online to share tips and tricks that would eventually stop the flies from coming back.
Netizens started swarming the comment section like flies themselves, sharing their thoughts on the situation.
“The factory and chicken coop were already there before they built the houses in the area. So, you can’t really blame the chickens.”
“If there’s a chicken coop nearby, you could actually file a report. They would be required to manage and properly dispose of the waste.”
“The neighborhood is surrounded by 43 chicken coops, as reported by the veterinarian.”
“I thought my family and I were the only ones facing this when we visited the neighborhood, to the extent that flies would even get into our drinks while we were eating.”
