On 20 April 2022, Malaysian Ah Liang took to his Facebook account to share a heartwarming story he encountered in Ipoh.
This true story started when Liang left a pub at 1.30am in Ipoh. “Short walk back and saw the KFC opposite the hotel still open. Went in to order take out. Staff told me they were closed but the sign says close at 2am. All the chicken were also cleared from the heated display. Aiyah,” he shared.
After he protested a little, the manager agreed and packed him an order of a Snack Plate meal along with coleslaw, mashed potatoes and Pepsi. “Very kind of him and when I wanted to pay, he said no worries and wouldn’t take my card. I asked if he was sure but he insisted,” he added. Surprised by the manager’s kind gesture, Liang left an RM10 tip in the box.
“I mean, the guy still packed the meal respectfully, (with) bells and whistles, despite knowing that he wasn’t going to charge me for it Got back to my room and tucked in. The meal was perfectly okay; the chicken and mash (were) still warm, the coleslaw cold. Bonus,” he expressed gratitude.
After that, his phone rang and it was a number starting with 03 from Puchong. “I don’t usually pick up such calls but the number rang again immediately so this time I picked up. It was from the bank,” he stated. Apparently, he had left his card at KFC and the manager called the bank to inform them about the matter.
The bank then advised that they will cancel the card. “Turns out the KFC manager then asked the bank to try calling me first before cancelling in case I needed to use the card since it was late. Well, that was what the bank told me anyway. Wow,” Liang said.
After telling the bank that he will head over to KFC and to call again in ten minutes, the KFC manager was there at the branch to give him back his card, as expected. “How about that for service AND initiative, eh?” Liang added.

“Zakir, you are a star. Your thoughtfulness is much appreciated at a time when I’ve almost given up on the younger generation,” he stated with much gratefulness and attached a picture together with the KFC manager Zakir. He also encouraged those who are in Ipoh and craving for KFC to look him up at the KFC Cockman (Jalan Dato’ Onn Jaafar branch).
