A Malaysian man is questioning his relationship with his girlfriend after discovering that she had sold his parents’ old Perodua Myvi while he was away on a business trip, to buy a luxury handbag.
Taking to the 八卦部门 Facebook page, the man anonymously shared how his girlfriend had taken advantage of his absence on a business trip to sell his parents’ old car and buy a Chanel bag to impress her new group of friends.

A woman sold his boyfriend’s Myvi behind his back, used the money to buy a Chanel bag
He wrote, “My girlfriend and I are both from Penang. We have an old Perodua Myvi at home. Although it’s over a decade old, it’s a memento from my parents. I still drive it occasionally and maintain it well. To me, it’s more than just a means of transportation; it’s also a memory.”
“One day, I was on a business trip for a few days and found my car missing when I returned. I asked my girlfriend about it and she said, as if it was nothing, ‘Oh, I sold it. You still have a Proton Saga, and this old Perodua Myvi was just sitting there anyways‘. I froze, because the car wasn’t even in her name. How could she do that?”
It turns out that the girlfriend had sold the car to an individual on the basis that they would take over the remaining loan payments to the Perodua Myvi.
“She confidently told me, ‘It’s faster this way. I can get the cash and buy the bag right away without having to wait for the dealer to process it‘,” he added.
All about impressing people

The man went on to explain that his girlfriend had recently joined a new group of friends who prefer the finer things in life, and needed the luxury handbag to blend in.
“She said that without a designer bag, going to a cafe (with her new friends) would make her look like a ‘country bumpkin’. She bluntly told me, ‘I’d rather you not have the Perodua Myvi than I not have a Chanel bag‘,”
“The problem was that little cash (from the car sales) wasn’t enough for the Chanel bag, and she shamelessly insisted I cover the difference. She added, ‘Think about it, if I embarrass myself in front of my friends, wouldn’t you be embarrassed too? You can drive a car like your Proton Saga, so at least I have something to hold my head up high‘.”
In the end, the girlfriend got her luxury handbag and proceeded to take it out and show it off to her friends and on social media.
“Even more ironic, she wrote on her Instagram story, ‘work hard and become a queen‘, as if she’d bought it herself.”
He is now questioning whether his relationship is about mutual support or whether his girlfriend is merely draining him of whatever he can offer her.
