A video has gone viral on social media recently, showing a schoolboy in Pontian, Johor being chased by a pack of stray dogs while he was riding a bicycle.
The video, shared by a member of the public was reposted by @redzuanNewsMPB on X and has garnered the attention of Malaysians who urged the municipal council to take action against the dogs.
As of the time of writing, the X post has received over 2,700 reposts and more than 2,200 likes. The incident reportedly happened on Sunday (10 December)
In the 27-second video, the boy can be seen wearing his school’s sports clothes while riding a bicycle on the left side of the road at Pekan Kayu Ara Pasong in Pontian.
He then came across at least 6 stray dogs which immediately barked and chased him.
The boy then swerved his bicycle to the right and paddled as quickly as possible to run escape from the stray dogs.
Moreover, he had to do several dangerous manoeuvres to get away from the dogs, including riding the bicycle toward incoming traffic and going against traffic on the right side.
Thankfully, the boy wasn’t harmed and the stray dogs ended their chase.
Throughout the video, you can hear the individual recording highlighting the dangers that the stray dogs posed and how it has been a problem in that area.

In the X post’s replies, many Malaysians urged for action to be taken so that the stray dogs could be captured and put in a shelter, with some highlighting that the dogs could also potentially have rabies which can be fatal when a human gets bitten.
Besides that, one commenter said that being chased by a pack of stray dogs like this is not something funny. On the contrary, it’s very scary.
In another post reply, one commenter shared an update on the incident, attaching a photo of the stray dogs being captured by the authorities.
