Cosmetic products are not only limited to women but also men, and it’s perfectly common for them to apply makeup on their skin for beauty purposes, or even to cover a scar.
However, in his Twitter post yesterday (January 25), a Malaysian man recently made it clear that he isn’t fond of the idea of placing cosmetic products in the men’s section in pharmacies.
The anonymous man shared an image of different cosmetic products in a pharmacy with the location undisclosed and questioned the need for the products in the men’s section.
“Do men need to apply for makeup, other than for hygiene purposes? Are you guys trying to be a p*nd*n?“
The man appears to also be baffled by the nude-coloured lip gloss that was available in the men’s section.
It’s common for men to apply makeup
It didn’t take long for fellow Malaysians to express what they think of his tweet, and many have since justified the need, as well as the reasons for some men to use the cosmetic products.
“Cosmetic products have their own usage. For photoshoots, for marriage, to be in front of the camera, or for confidence boosting. Have some empathy, if we don’t need it, doesn’t mean other men don’t need it too.”
“How is it being p*nd*n for wearing makeup? Newscasters and people who need to be in front of the camera use them to look presentable. Your masculinity will not be affected by using makeup. Relax.”
“I guess you’ve never been on TV. Newscasters apply makeup to look presentable to those watching.”
“Have you ever seen the men with dull lips, like they’re lacking iron in their bodies? I think they really need the lip gloss.”
“Buy those cosmetic products to cover your stupidity.”
“Using makeup will threaten your masculinity? Weak. Do some research about it, it could be for a photo shoot and for a wedding day.”
It’s perfectly common for men to use certain cosmetic products and it does not affect their masculinity at all. It’s never right to judge someone based on their appearance, or the cosmetic products that they use to look more presentable.
