Home is one of the very few places where we feel the safest and most secure. Our homes are designed to give us some privacy and shelter us from most dangers out there. However, that sense of security can sometimes be broken. Yesterday, a veteran policeman was attacked in front of his own home in Kuantan. He had been splashed with acid and received multiple burns as a result of the attack.  The 51-year-old policeman from the Pahang Police Contingent was spending time with his family when this incident took place.

The victim had received burns on various parts of his body including his chest, shoulder and face. According to the policeman’s wife, her husband had been summoned by someone who was waiting right in front of their doorstep. She stated that the person came by a motorbike and he was wearing a ‘mat-despatch’-like outfit. He also had a hamper in his hands. The unknown man claimed that he wanted to pass the hamper to the policeman.

Upon being summoned, the policeman came to check who his visitor was. According to an article published by Harian Metro, the policeman was unwilling and hesitant to accept the hamper from the mystery visitor.

“The suspect had to persuade the policeman to accept the hamper,” said Assistant Commissioner Mohamad Noor Yusof Ali. After reluctantly accepting the hamper, the victim had turned to head back inside his home. Unfortunately, the suspect had seized that very moment to splash the acid on the policeman. He then proceeded to escape from the place of incident.

Early investigation uncovered that this wasn’t the first time the suspect had been to the home. The suspect had paid a visit to the house prior, and he left after realising that there was no one at home. The suspect’s identity still remains a mystery and police urged anyone who has information to step forward and aid the investigation.
