Recently in the state of Terengganu, authorities received a report of a five-year-old boy who allegedly, has a broken cheekbone, multiple bruises on his face and parts of his body and is believed to have been abused by his own mother.
According to Berita Harian, a family member of the victim decided to file a complaint to the Social Welfare Department at about 10am on Thursday. The caller disclosed that the victim was at that time, located at a kindergarten in the city and JKM staff rushed to the place immediately.

Terengganu Criminal Investigations Department Assistant Commisioner Razmi Mohd Gunnos said,
“Examinations on the victim’s body revealed several possible injuries including bruises on the left cheek and the back of his ear before being taken to Sultanah Nur Zahirah Hospital (HSNZ) for treatment.”

Further examinations recorded that fractures were found on the cheek bone, along with bruises on his face, back of the ear, eyelids and cuts on the knee.
The suspect, who is a 29-year-old single mother was arrested in front of the hospital on the same day that the report was received and is currently being remanded for six days to conduct further investigations under Section 31 (1) (a) of the Children Act 2001.
There is absolutely no reason for anyone to abuse a child, let alone their own one like this. Its truly heartbreaking to hear stories like these, and we hope for a smooth and speedy recovery for the little boy!
