Mischievous animals are not hard to come by, especially cats! Known for being incredibly independent, some feline owners can probably attest to having their beloved pets sneak out at practically any hour, and not returning home for days on end. Luckily for one Malaysian woman, she found a smart trick to help her navigate this issue, so her beloved fluffs don’t get up to any sneaky ideas.
Malaysian cat owner Anis Mansor recently shared a TikTok video to her page @anisnabilahmansor after moving to a landed property, having lived in an apartment prior to this. Bringing along her four beloved cats, Anis needed to come up with a way to keep her pets in her house, fearing that they would get lost as they are new in the neighbourhood.
Thinking of an excellent plan, Anis decided to get cardboard cut outs and place it around their necks, to prevent them from walking past their house grill.
“Apartment kids are new to landed houses. Don’t want to open the door cause they’ll dash out of the house. So, wearing a box it is!” jokingly wrote Anis in the caption of her post.
In the video, Anis showed how she creatively cut out holes on pieces of cardboard, making it just wide enough to fit each cat’s head. By placing it around their necks, this prevented three of her felines from squeezing through their house grill, and therefore getting out.
Turning around to glance at their owner, the three cats stared in frustration as they couldn’t seem to determine a way to walk out and into the compound of their house. Gazing from the inside, the trio sat at their grill, content yet uncertain about what to do next.
In a brief conversation with WORLD OF BUZZ, Anis said that she has not had the time to instal wire mesh onto her gates yet. She plans to do so in time and release her cats from their cardboard prison, as this was the only idea she had while deciding what to do next.
“I have four cats in total, but only three needed this. The other one, that is an oyen, isn’t brave to go out. He’s a scaredy cat. But with these three, they have tried to take off the cardboard, and succeeded a few times. But then, I have to put it back on them, just for the time being,” said Anis to WORLD OF BUZZ.
Receiving responses from various people online, one user even said that Anis is taking proper precautionary steps to safeguard her “children”, though it was done in a cute and funny manner.
“The design is very human!” noted one user in jest.
Nevertheless, multiple cat owners also came forward to express their troubles with their own felines, who tend to leave upon the slightest creak of their house gates. Some even said that they plan to create something similar to what Anis did, in hopes of keeping their cats from getting loose as well.
“Thank you for the idea sister. Now I will do this for my cats too!” added another commenter.

Oh to be entangled in a cardboard prison. It’s okay kitties! Wire mesh for the gate will be here soon enough.
