Parenting can be one of the toughest responsibilities in the world, and a little secret no one ever discusses is how there isn’t a correct way to do it. But along the way, most learn what is best for their children, and the result of such lessons only bring pure joy and prosperity into their lives.

One Malaysian mother seems to have hit the mark in teaching her daughter a form of independence that is crucial and so important to her development. In a clip uploaded by the mother to an account dedicated to her child @babyraieessa, the mother shared how her child, Raisha Hareessa, has been able to eat by herself since she was just a year and five months old.

In a clip documenting this journey, Raisha’s mother stated that she has been called lazy for letting her baby eat by herself at a young age, with some having told her that Raisha used to eat food like a chicken.

“People have said that if your child eats by themselves and takes a long time to do so, they won’t eat until they are full. From six months old, mummy hasn’t fed Raisha unless she was sick or if she asked me to,” wrote the mother in a caption across the screen.

The mother stated that she would even allow Raisha to eat by herself when they went out so neither of them would have to take turns for meal time. Discussing the full circle moment, Raisha’s mother said that she does not regret teaching her child to eat by herself from a young age.

“Raisha prefers to eat by herself and thank God, since she entered pre-school at a year and five months old, it has been easy for teachers to handle her because she knows how to eat by herself,” she wrote at the end of her clip.

In a brief conversation with WORLD OF BUZZ, Raisha’s mother stated that while this was her go-to method for teaching Raisha, it is okay for other mothers to feed their children too.

“Bonding and love doesn’t just come from feeding someone, but it comes in many ways,” she said to WORLD OF BUZZ.

Asking for tips while commending her parenting skills, many users applauded Raisha’s mummy for teaching her how to eat on her own at such a young age, saying that the baby-led weaning process, which is where parents allow their kids to eat using their fingers, is an effective tool in teaching them.

“It is good to teach them to eat by themselves from a young age. Even though it can cause a mess sometimes, it is a sign of their motor skills using their hands and showing how active they are. Don’t pay attention to other people’s mouths,” encouraged one user.
