Baby milk formula is getting more and more advanced nowadays, especially in terms of nutrition, but we don’t think mixing the powder with live cockroaches is part of the recipe.
Just yesterday (15 July), a Malaysian mother called Yi Yin took to Facebook to warn others after she discovered live cockroaches inside the milk powder she purchased. To make things worse, it was even from her favourite brand! Oh no!
Here’s what she wrote.
“I’ve just bought this packet (of baby milk formula) today, and I’ve given it to my son twice and my daughter once. My daughter refused to drink after just one sip, so I took it over and tried it for myself.”
The milk tasted weird and funky, so Yin brought the packet of milk powder closer to her nose and right off the bat she smelt cockroaches. Nope nope nope.
She then poured the entire packet out to have a thorough examination, and she didn’t like what she found. Here’s the video.
As you can see, live cockroaches were crawling on the milk powder, and as we all know, cockroaches are disgusting and dirty creatures, regardless of their size. The mother ended her post by praying that her children would be safe despite having consumed the contaminated milk formula.
One of the pictures showed that the expiry date was July 2019.
As expected, her Facebook post garnered a lot of attention and was shared over 3,500 times within 24 hours. Some netizens reckoned that the product may have been placed on the shelf for too long before being purchased, while others felt that this could be an isolated case as they’ve never encountered this problem before.
Whether this is an isolated case or not, we hope the manufacturer would seriously look into this matter. The original post with more pictures is available here.
