Giving your romantic partner a gift every now and then without an occasion is one way to show your appreciation for them, especially when it’s a surprise.

One Malaysian decided to gift his girlfriend RM820 out of the blue one day, which garnered mixed reactions from netizens.

According to a post by Facebook page Himpunan Cerita Lawak, the guy texted his girlfriend on 13 May, asking her to pick a number between 1 and 1,500.

The girlfriend questioned why but responded anyway. She picked the number 820, after which her boyfriend told her to check her bank account.

Upon checking, she discovered that her boyfriend had transferred RM820 to her bank account!

While no one would ordinarily pass up an opportunity to receive free money, netizens who responded to the post had different opinions:

  • “You don’t have to choose these things after you’re married. Just open the wallet, take the bank card and tell your husband. Simple.”
  • “Her boyfriend has already budgeted to give RM1,500. But she chose 820, so he managed to save RM680.”
  • “One day, this man is going to realise the stupid thing he did. Pretending to be sweet when handing over the money. Stupid.”
  • “On Shopee got this kind of boyfriend or not?”

Tag your partner in the comments and drop them some heavy hints! ?
