A Form 1 female student in Kuching was left traumatised after being physically bullied and verbally threatened by classmates

According to SUPP Complaints Bureau Head Milton Foo, the victim was targeted by two male classmates, one of whom threw a rock at the victim’s back and head while issuing verbal threats and using abusive language, which left the victim in trauma and tears.

Foo said he had met with the victim’s parents, who informed him that a police report had been filed regarding the incident. According to Foo, after the report was made, the school held a meeting involving teachers, police officers, and parents of the students involved.

The victim was given a day off by the school, but her parents chose to extend the leave until 30 October to allow the victim to receive counselling and an emotional recovery process.

The school also imposed disciplinary action by suspending both students for three days and transferring one of them to another class.

“This case reflects a worrying increase in bullying cases in schools and urged schools and parents to take every such incident seriously,” Foo said in an interview.

The police said there was no mention of the verbal threat

Padawan District Police Chief, Superintendent Mohd Irwan Hafiz Md Radzi, confirmed that a report about the matter was received, and said that an investigation is currently underway.

However, he said, based on the reports received, there was no mention of threats to stab the victim.

“Yes, the case is under investigation, namely the report of a student being harassed by a classmate, but there is no sentence to stab him 300 times,” reported Harian Metro.

The matter is now being investigated under Section 507C of the Penal Code for intimidation through communication, for committing acts of threatening, insulting, or humiliating through any form of communication.
