Looks like Mercury really is in retrograde!
A 50-year-old man from Segamat, Johor faced a series of unfortunate events over the weekend on Sunday (18th November). Wan Ab Mutalib Mazlan spent the day overseeing his father’s funeral at the Kampung Tebing Tinggi Muslim cemetery when he was unexpectedly struck by lightning at 5.30pm that evening.
According to Berita Harian, Wan Ab Mutalib was struck when he was cleaning his father’s freshly covered grave. He told the daily that he heard a loud bang before he suddenly felt heat coursing through his body, saying,
“After I was hit by the lightning, my entire body suddenly felt numb but I managed to walk over and hold onto a wire fence for support before passing out. Luckily, I did not hit my head.”
“I regained consciousness a few minutes later to see my family laying me down in a nearby hut while they called for an ambulance.”
However, the ordeal wasn’t over for Wan Ab Mutalib. Soon after the ambulance arrived, he was being driven to the Segamat Hospital when the vehicle lost control and crashed into a road divider on the highway!
While the accident wasn’t too severe, a respiratory machine fell over and landed on the man, injuring his left leg.
“I was treated in the hospital’s emergency department before being transferred to Ward 3 for observation. I was then allowed to go home on Monday (19th November). I am thankful because I did not have any serious injuries. I just feel weak.”
“I am grateful that Allah has given me the strength to endure so much adversity in just 24 hours. My father just passed away, I was struck by lightning after that, and then I met with an accident. I am thankful for my family as well as the ambulance and hospital staff who helped me.”
We’re glad this man came out relatively unscathed and remained so positive despite what has happened to him. We wish him a speedy recovery and hope his luck takes a turn for the better!
