The saying often goes that a daughter’s first love is her father, but the inverse of that statement is also just as true if not more.
A recent TikTok video has been making waves online after one user @diba.vevo captured a moment of her father at her sister’s wedding. In the brief yet impactful clip, Diba’s father can be seen praying during his eldest daughter’s marriage ceremony. However, upon a closer look, one notices that Diba’s father is quietly using his hands to cover his crying while praying simultaneously.
Overcome with emotion, Diba’s father sat silently with tears streaming down his face as the prayers continued to be read. At one point, he almost cries a little harder before catching himself to remain composed. In a brief conversation with WORLD OF BUZZ, Diba added that her entire family’s reaction to watching her father was an emotional one as well, bringing them to tears too.
“In tears watching dad let go of his first daughter,” wrote Diba in the caption of her post.
Bringing the entire comments section to puddle, many Malaysian women expressed how their fathers would react if they were to get married, while others said this video made them think twice about even making that decision, imagining their own fathers’ reactions.
“Love without conditions. The first man and the last in any daughter’s life,” wrote one user.
Some users even took the light-hearted route, mentioning funny responses of how their fathers would react during their own wedding.
“I asked my dad if he would cry when I get married and he said he wouldn’t have time to cry as he’d be relieved of the burden of taking care of me,” she joked.
