Grandparents hold a very special place in most of their grandkids’ hearts, no matter what point of their lives they are at, or whether they are present in the moment with us.

Malaysian TikTok user Aisya Nuralysya recent married the man of her dreams, and shared snippets of their wedding day to her account @aisyanuralysya. However, one clip in particular has stolen the hearts of many people on the platform after she shared an emotional moment with her grandfather.

In the clip, Aisya can be seen leaning towards her grandfather, who is sitting in a wheelchair, as they hug on her big day. Brought to tears, Aisya’s grandfather was overcome with emotion when interacting with his granddaughter, before he gave her a big hug.

Written in the caption of her post, Aisya revealed that her grandfather was recently diagnosed with dementia, with many of her family members thinking that he may not understand what was happening on her wedding day. However, Aisya stated that he did indeed realise that his granddaughter was getting married on that day.

“The moment I walked down the aisle – he just bawled. It was so emotional yet special at the same time,” wrote Aisya in the caption of her post.

Bringing the comments section to tears, many people expressed how the video made them feel sad yet touched at the same time. Other users also related to Aisya’s situation with her grandfather.

Having a grandmother with dementia, I hope she will make it to the day I become a doctor,” wrote another user.

Nevertheless, many users also expressed their sorrow, knowing that their grandfathers will not be at their own weddings.

“I lost my beloved grandfather two years ago, we were close and he never got to see my happy day. I’m so happy to see this though!” penned one user.

In a brief conversation with WORLD OF BUZZ, Aisya also stated that the moment was made even more emotional, due to the fact that they recently lost their grandmother, so having her grandfather not only be at the ceremony, but understand its significance, meant a lot to her.

“It made me feel really grateful that I still have my granddad with me to witness the union between me and my love. It’s a moment and feeling I will never take for granted,” she said to WORLD OF BUZZ.

my granddad was recently diagnosed with dementia. we all thought he wouldnt understand what was happening when i got married but the moment i walked down the aisle – he just bawled. it was so emotional yet special at the same time. he was the type who never showed any emotions. he was always very serious. even more so after my grandma passed away. i bet he missed her so much at this moment as we all did. this was truly such a special moment ??️

While most of us will have our whole lives to look forward to, our grandparents will only spend a certain amount of time with us. Cherish them whenever you can.
