A man died after the Yamaha 135LC motorcycle he was riding collided with a police escort motorcycle at Kilometer 5.3 of Jalan Kubu Gajah-Selama on March 12.
In an official PDRM statement on March 14, Selama District Police Chief, Superintendent Sarudin Samah, said that initial investigations found a Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) motorcycle coming from the direction of Kubu Gajah.
“The victim, Mohd. Saharil Sahfiq Samat, a factory worker suffered serious injuries and was confirmed dead at the scene by medical officers.”

A 33-year-old traffic officer who was riding a high-powered motorcycle while on duty escorting the vehicle of Perak Deputy Police Chief Zulkafli Sariaat also suffered serious injuries.
“The collision caused both victims to be thrown off of their vehicles.”

The accident happened during the escort of the Deputy Chief Police of Perak.
The injured police officer suffered a broken right hand and facial injuries and was treated at the same hospital. He is now confirmed to be in stable condition. The investigation is still ongoing, and the case is classified under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
The body of the deceased had been sent to the Forensic Unit, Selama Hospital for a post-mortem.
