A former Malaysian football player is now surviving through other means after not receiving his salary for 8 months.
Mohammad Gopi Rizqi is now selling beverages at a Ramadhan Bazaar in Kampung Api-Api, Pontian, Johor, and he had no idea that pictures of him selling beverages went viral on the Internet. In reports by Sinar Harian and Berita Harian, Gopi, who has a wife and two kids, admitted that in his current circumstances, he has to work harder to keep his family surviving.

Fortunately, his business is doing well at the moment.
“My drinks and the Kuihs at my stall are selling like hot cakes. Sometimes, my customers take pictures with me too.”

The idea of selling beverages and Kuihs came after a discussion with his wife, as Gopi was worried about his life when he had not received his salary for the last 8 months. At the same time, Gopi is considering expanding his business and turning it into his main source of income.
Gopi, who is from Kuantan, Pahang, played for the Pahang Football Club from 2010 to 2015, followed by Selangor FC in 2016, Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) FC from 2017 to 2018, Melaka United in 2018, Polis Di Raja Malaysia (PDRM) in 2019, and Pahang FC again in 2020.

During his seven seasons with Pahang, Gopi successfully won the Malaysia Cup twice and the FA Cup once.
So, with his achievements in the sports arena, is Gopi bidding farewell to the industry for good? According to Gopi, who has a coaching license, he is ready to share his experience with students in this district if given the opportunity as a coach.
What do you think of this?
