In recent news, a Malaysian contractor got sentenced to 1 month in jail by the magistrate’s court today after pleading guilty to physically assaulting his wife.
Berita Harian reported that, Mohd Farid Sahak, was released today since his jail sentencing started on the date of his arrest on September 20.
He punched his wife 6 times
The 34-year-old pleaded guilty to physically assaulting his wife by punching her multiple times inside a car in Jalan Lukas, Taman Soga, after she asked him to stop at a shop on September 19.
Police received a report from a 32-year-old female doctor claiming she was assaulted by her husband after she asked him to stop at a shop to buy food.
The suspect ignored her request, leading to an argument between them, during which he punched her right arm 6 times.
“I still love my wife and child”
The father of one, who didn’t have a lawyer, got emotional as he asked for a lighter sentence, saying he still loves his wife and child.
“After 40 days locked up, I just want to see them. I can’t handle staying in jail any longer,” he said.
Deputy public prosecutor Farah Wahidah Mohd Sharip handled the case, where earlier, the prosecution shared a statement from the wife in court.
In it, she shared her fear and frustration, saying,
“I’m scared of my husband. I don’t want to live with him anymore. I don’t understand why I’m always being hit for no reason.”
The suspect admitted to the offence under Section 323 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt, after the charge was read to him by the court interpreter before Magistrate Suhaila Shafi’uddin.
