Most of the time, employees lack the guts or motivation to report their employers’ misconduct to the relevant organisations. But a Malaysian recently defied the odds and reported to KWSP upon realising her EPF was not transferred into her KWSP account.
On her 小红书 Xiao Hong Shu account, the woman shared that she just landed her first job 2 months back, and she noticed that her EPF deductions were not credited to her KWSP account.
Shockingly, former employees of the place told her the same.
“The employers haven’t paid the EPF of the employees for about 5 months now,” she was told.
When she took the initiative to ask her employer, the latter simply told her “oh right, okay“.
“That’s it, I’m reporting!”
A month later, the EPF deductions were still nowhere to be seen. On September 4, the woman decided to lodge an official report at the KWSP office with a former colleague.
All they needed to do was to fill up some forms and submit relevant documents. It was just a matter of time before the officers paid the company a visit.
Fortunately, they did not have to wait long. On September 6, the KWSP officers came knocking and paid the office a visit. They had a chit-chat with the employer in the office but the contents of the conversation were unknown.
WORLD OF BUZZ reached out to the woman and we were told that as of now, she is still waiting for her EPF deductions to be credited into her KWSP account. When asked if the employer had any idea about the identity of the employee who made the report, she told WORLD OF BUZZ that the employer may not know about it as the report was made anonymously.
Regardless, the woman revealed that she is leaving the workplace soon, but the reason for her resignation was never disclosed.
Her bravery to file an official complaint about her employer’s misconduct is truly applaudable. Hopefully, this will motivate fellow employees to do what’s right, and serves as a reminder to fellow employers to do what’s necessary before unwanted consequences follow.
