Birthday is 1 of the biggest celebrations no one wants to miss in life every year. It works best when the people who matter are present while you celebrate yourself for being another year wiser, but not everyone shares the same luxury.
In a heartfelt Xiao Hong Shu post, a 20-year-old girl “celebrated” her birthday with her father in a way where not everyone may have the emotional strength to do so. Wong’s father is no longer with the family because he passed away many years back. Regardless, that did not deter her will to “spend some time” with her father, and she brought her birthday cake to her father’s grave for some quality father-daughter time.
Wong may look happy in her pictures but only God and herself could understand her longing for her dad to be by her side on the important day.
“Dad, I turned 20 today. I really wish you could see me now, all grown up.”
In her post, she also expressed a desire for her that can never happen again.
“I wish you were here with me, dad.”
In a brief conversation with WORLD OF BUZZ, Wong said that her father passed away when she was still a kid.
“He passed away when I was only 10 due to an illness. Coincidentally, it was his death anniversary today (February 16).”
Wong also told WORLD OF BUZZ that her father was only 48 when he passed away. He would’ve been 58 if the father and daughter had the luxury to celebrate the birthday together.
“He’s loving you in another realm”
Her short but heartfelt post on the platform has gained much attention from netizens, who expressed their sympathy but at the same time, impressed at her emotional strength for celebrating her birthday with her deceased father.
“Happy Birthday! Your dad would be proud and happy if he could see how much you’ve grown up.”
“I hope my baby daughter will be this good after I’m dead.”
“He’s still loving you, but in another realm and he’s decorating your house for your next life. You both will reunite one day. He’s the happiest to see you happy.”
Happy belated birthday! We’re sure your father is happy to see you happy. This shall also serve as a reminder to us that we should grab every opportunity to spend the time with the elderly at home to avoid any unwanted regrets.
