Women just can’t seem to catch a break, especially when it comes to their attire.

One woman received the shock of her life when she was compared to a prostitute for wearing a sleeveless shirt with little cutouts at the sides.

Aliyah* (name changed for privacy reasons) took to her Facebook page to call out a friend who called her a ‘prostitute’ for wearing the shirt.

She wrote, “So, we thought generation Z was going to make the world a better place? It’s definitely not going to happen if we have people with this mindset. Basically, I was wearing this sleeveless top with cutouts at the waist, and ‘my friend’ decided to advise me on my clothing.”

“Firstly, I do take advice from my friends and family, but what kind of friend calls their own friend a ‘prostitute’? It’s not the first time he advised me but this time his choice of words was very disrespectful. Secondly, he spoke about how my family raised me.”

“I’m not angry, I just want the best for you. Fine, it’s my fault, I’m sorry for calling you a prostitute, but I feel like you’re always covered up and you come from a family that raised you very well. I just want to advise you, next time you should dress better, like you always do because if you expose your body parts, people might, you know, you understand what I mean,” the so-called friend had told her.

“Like, seriously, people might what? Have the same mindset like you have?”

“You’re always covered and nicely dressed. That looks like what a prostitute would wear. I don’t mean to judge or sound rude though,” her ‘friend’ told her in an initial message.

She shared that her mother had bought the shirt for her and had no problems with the cutouts.

“My mother bought it for me and I’m comfortable wearing it. So, you’re saying that my mother bought it for me to make me look like a prostitute?”

“Finally, if you don’t have anything nice to say, then don’t say it at all. Please educate yourself. Don’t ever judge someone by their clothes. Remember, even friends have boundaries. Don’t let someone become comfortable with disrespecting you. Stand up for yourself,” she ended her post.

It’s saddening to know that there are people who can associate such a nice top with prostitution. In fact, the comparison is obviously ridiculously exaggerated and taken out of proportion.

Kudos, for standing your ground and not letting your friend disrespect you like that.

No one should ever, ever, be judged based on their attire.
