The thing about donating money is that it’s hard to know for sure if the money really went to helping the needy or if we’ve been tricked. However, if what you’re facing is similar to this Malaysian woman’s experience, we’re betting that it’s probably a scam.
Recently, Malaysian social media influencer Azzura Daud shared a story of how her friend was threatened with black magic when she refused to continue donating to a person online.
In an exclusive interview with WORLD OF BUZZ, Azzura said that her friend first received the plea for help through a WhatsApp message. The person asking for donations had gotten her number through her online business profile on Instagram.
At first, Azzura’s friend donated out of kindness. But after receiving similar messages every week, she felt like she was being scammed and refused to donate any more money, which led to her receiving threat messages on iMessage.
“I promise I’ll get back at you. You just wait. I already have your family’s photos. If I put this spell on you, you won’t feel it. But if it’s on your family, I’m confident that you’ll realise (the mistake you made),” the threat reads.
At her wit’s end, Azzura’s friend then complained, “Once or twice can help lah. But if (they) ask for money every week I have to block already.”
“Internet and phone can buy. When people don’t donate, simply send threat messages. We’re also struggling trying to make ends meet. (They) just ask for money when they feel like it. I don’t even know (them),” she said.
Hopefully the person threatening Azzura’s friend is just all talk.
