Is it just us, or is the Hari Raya Aidilfitri festive season this year seemingly attracting a lot of ‘Mat Rempit’ or illegal street racer activities in our country?
From the man in sarong intimidating mat rempits in Terengganu to the Baju Melayu-wearing mat rempit doing a ‘wheelie’ in Kelantan, the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) definitely have a lot on their hands in the past few days.
The mat rempit-related incidents don’t stop there either, as another video has gone viral recently about a Malaysian boy being grilled by the police for riding a motorcycle without a helmet and obviously, without a licence.
The video, shared by @mokeredie on TikTok has since gone viral, garnering over 3.7 million views and more than 231,700 likes as of the time of writing.
In the video, the boy, wearing a full set of Baju Melayu minus the Samping can be seen being pulled over by PDRM officers to the side of the road with two motorcycles, one of which is presumably owned by the boy’s family.
The boy, with a distressed look on his face then said that his father would be mad at him should the father know he was being pulled over by the police. The boy elaborated that the motorcycle he was riding is the only one that his sister has to do errands.
He then repeatedly asked the police officers to let him go, asserting,
“Please Encik, just this one time, please let me go, just this one time.”
When quizzed by the police, the boy said that he was riding with his friends but all of them had run away. He then assured the police officers that the motorcycle has a valid road tax but he had no licence.
The video then ended abruptly without all of us knowing what transpired next. You can watch the full video here:

That confidence tho…
In the comments section of the TikTok video, netizens were amused by the boy’s demeanour but were suspicious of his confidence in speaking to the police, as if it’s not his first rodeo.
One commenter said that the boy has good communications skill and was persuasive in his pleading to the PDRM officers. Meanwhile, another comment pointed out how well-articulated his words were and how he didn’t stutter at all.
Some also hoped that the police officers let the boy go with a warning, saying that he would learn the lesson from this incident and better himself in the future.
