A recent post has gone viral online after a netizen claiming to be an alumnus from the same university took to social media to share photos from a graduate’s pre-convocation photoshoot that sparked mixed reactions among netizens.
In the post, the alleged alumni member uploaded several pictures of a female graduate posing in her convocation robe, but in a way many considered provocative and inappropriate.

“Respect the convocation robe”
The alumni member expressed his disappointment after seeing the photos, urging future graduates to respect the convocation robe and what it represents.
He pointed out that while the photoshoot was meant to be a “pre-convocation” shoot, it still failed to reflect the core values of “courtesy and decency.”
“The convocation robe carries its own significance. As an alumni, I’m quite disappointed. Even if this was just a pre-convo shoot, it still doesn’t align with the principles of courtesy and decency. I urge (the university) to take appropriate action” he wrote.

“Posting her picture without consent is wrong”
In the comment section, the alumni member responded to a netizen who requested that he take down the pictures, explaining that posting the graduate’s photos without consent is already considered an offence.
In his response, he said:
“1. I didn’t mention her name or her picture. 2. The picture comes from another source, and they reached out to her, but received no response. 3. This serves as a lesson for others. 4. There have been multiple similar incidents involving this robe.”

Netizens started flooding the comment section with their thoughts and reactions.

“It’s best if action is taken so that others can learn from it. If no action is taken, there will be more cases like this in the future.”

“She should be blacklisted. Don’t let her attend the convocation.”

“It’s time for the authorities in both public and private universities to take action against those who disrespect the integrity of educational institutions. If not, this kind of inappropriate behaviour will only become more widespread.”
However, some netizens had a different take on the matter.

“It went viral so fast. You could have at least messaged her first and asked her to take it down or something. Instead, you just took a screenshot and let it spread. Why blow it out of proportion?”

“Have you personally addressed this with her, sir?”

“Let’s not shame others.”
