However, as frontliners put everything on the line to save these people, patients other than those infected with Covid-19, are beginning to bear worry. According to a report by CNA, a stage-four cancer patient expressed how she doesn’t know how much time she has left with her daughter.

“Every day is a battle … I am just worried that if I keep pushing my luck, I might leave too soon,” said Noor Amalina Izzuah.

The 39-year-old noted that she has been battling cancer since 2013, after a relapse from a full recovery in 2010. However, due to the Covid-19 situation in the country, her treatment has been postponed for 15 days, to give priority to Covid-19 patients.

“This time round, the cancer is more aggressive and has now spread to more parts of my body. With that being the case, I am often in pain, so every day sooner to my next treatment counts,” she said.

Noor Amalina is just one among all the other treatments that have been postponed within the country due to the 5,603 people (at time of writing) infected with the virus.

Besides her, 29-year-old cancer patient Navi Indran Pillai also suffers a similar fate. According to her, the private hospital where she was receiving treatments at was also postponed, as the hospital tries to deal with the flooding of Covid-19 patients.

“My treatment has been postponed for about a month. The treatment has been delayed due to this pandemic period, and so my doctor has advised me to take all the precautions in the meantime,” she said.

Despite the funds allocated by the government toward the health ministry to aid with the Covid-19 situation, so many are suffering today, including those that are not infected with the virus.
