Parliamentary proceedings are often where serious matters are up for discussion, which can sometimes get heated.
However, sometimes, our MPs have also been spotted doing things other than that.
Recently, Shah Alam MP Khalid Abdul Samad was spotted by netizens talking on his phone during a parliamentary session when Sepanggar MP Datuk Mohd Azis Jamman was giving a speech.
What is he doing on the phone?
The picture of Khalid on the phone has gone viral on Twitter, and netizens wondered why he was on the phone in the first place.
Some users even made jokes about the call being from parcel delivery and food delivery services.
“Me every time Shoppe express calls mid-meeting,” joked a user.
Another user commented, “You can leave my Grab order at the table, thank you.”
Meanwhile, one user assumed Khalid’s call was from one of his wives. “Yes. I’m in the parliamentary session. Turn on the TV and watch live. I swear, I’m in parliament. (Baby), can’t you hear that people are debating? Later I’ll kiss you.”
Khalid responds to the picture
The viral photo of Khalid managed to capture the man’s attention, who responded to the tweet by commenting on it.
Khalid justifies himself being on the phone as an attempt to get his microphone switched on.
Should MPs be allowed to be on their phones during a parliamentary session?
