A motorcyclist has died in a three-vehicle accident involving two other cars in Jalan Berapit, Bukit Mertajam at 8.40am yesterday, reports Utusan Malaysia.
The incident occurred when one of the cars coming from the direction of Bukit Mertajam towards Berapit was believed to have been trying to overtake another vehicle before skidding and entering the opposite lane, hitting the motorcyclist and another car in the process.
“As a result of the accident, the victim, Muhamad Zahid Azali, 25, who was riding a Yamaha 135LC motorcycle was seriously injured and died at the scene,” Seberang Perai Tengah District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Shafee Abd. Samad explained.
The victim’s body has since been taken to the Bukit Mertajam Hospital for an autopsy. This case is being investigated in accordance with Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act (APJ) 1987.
