Not all TikTok hacks are reliable, but many are relying on the platform for a quick and easy method to get their things done. What happened to a woman in the UK recently proves why you shouldn’t put 100% of your trust in TikTok hacks.
Shafia Bashir recently had to experience the worst pain in her life after the egg that she cooked in a microwave exploded onto her face, prompting her skin to get “peeled”. What should be a simple and quick recipe turned into a painful disaster for Shafia.
As per the recipe, she poured boiling water into a mug, followed by putting an egg into the water and heating the food in the microwave for a couple of minutes until it had cooked. Just when the egg was ready to be eaten, the glass broke and the egg “erupted” like a volcano when Shafia touched the egg with a cold spoon.
We’re glad that none of the shattered glass pierce through her skin.
The hot egg splashed onto the right side of her face. To have hot water splashing on your skin is painful enough, and we can’t imagine having a simmering egg on our faces. That’s gotta hurt. Shafia went to the nearest hospital to get treatment, which she said,
“I felt the sting for the next 12 hours.”
As of now, Shafia’s face has fortunately healed, thanks to all the cream that she used to speed up the healing.
“I used Vaseline, Sudocrem, whatever I could get my hands on.”
She added that the trick was also taught by her ex-mother-in-law, and this time, she decided to use the trick as she was starving and wanted to save time.
“After it happened, I put my face under the tap for 20 minutes. But the burning lasted for 12 hours. It just didn’t stop,” Shafia described the agony pain, as reported by Independent.
The British Medical Journal has previously warned about cooking eggs in microwaves, which is dangerous because the casing holds in heat. Once the egg is removed from the microwave, the cooking process does not stop. “Interference” like the cold spoon, will cause it to explode.
When it comes to the cooking method, it’s best to follow the traditional method. Not everything you see on the Internet is true, and the traditional method is not only safer but also preserves the taste.
