Face masks today serve the purpose of not only protecting you from elements such as haze and pollution as it can also save your life; especially during the Covid-19 pandemic.
However, for those wearing glasses, face masks actually cause your glasses to fog up.
To ensure that your glasses stay clear while wearing your face masks, here are several tips, as advised by Public Health Malaysia for those wearing glasses to follow when wearing face masks.
Shared on their Facebook page, the status writes, “This is a problem that only people wearing glasses will understand and this issue was brought up by those who face the difficulty of glasses fogging up while in surgery.”
“The first step to avoiding glasses from fogging up is to wash your glasses with soap and dry them. The film that is left behind forms a barrier against water droplets from forming.”
“Step two is to the most important step of all. Ensure that the top part of your mask is as close as it can be to the bridge of your nose. Press on the metal wire and if possible use tape to ensure that it is secure.”
“Step three is to place a tissue under your mask. This will help absorb moisture that accumulates while breathing.”
Easy, right?
Now the fog that forms on your glasses according to the Wall Street Journal is not only an inconvenience but also a safety hazard.
So instead of ditching the mask entirely and risking contracting Covid-19, why not try these recommendations the next time you get a chance to step outside? 🙂
