This is one ice queen who’ll never be short of admirers!
Last Tuesday (27th August), Melaka Zoo welcomed it’s newest inhabitant, a gorgeous white Bengal tigress named, of course, Elsa! The one-year-and-nine-month old tigress joined Melaka Zoo as part of a ongoing collaboration with Sunway Lagoon Wildlife Park. While she won’t be shown to the public just yet as she’ll be quarantined, Elsa will be on public display starting Malaysia Day week on 14th September!

Hang Tuah Jaya Municipal Council president Mohd Rafee Ibrahim told The Star that Melaka Zoo is currently looking to collaborate with Indonesia’s Batu Secret Zoo in Surabaya to bring in another white tiger in September in exchange for a Malayan tiger. Two of them together! They’ll definitely be the most magnificent pair in the whole zoo.
The zoo is looking to collaborate with many other zoos in the country and in the region to bring in more animals, and is already expecting to receive 9 new animals this year, including lions, rhinoceroses, hippopotamus, tapirs, elephants and peacocks. Already housing 183 animals, it certainly looks like Melaka Zoo can expect an influx of visitors looking to marvel at Elsa and her friends.
She’s so beautiful! Hopefully Elsa will enjoy her new home and be well taken care of. Will you be making a trip to Melaka Zoo this Malaysia Day?
