Before he entered the reality competition Produce 101, he was actually an independent trainee whose company asked him to busk on the streets as part of his training. Passerbys would take videos of him singing because of the quality and sweetness of his voice, and it’s no surprise that he eventually became the vocalist for WANNAONE. Fans who have been following him for a long time even have a nickname for him, which is “Bus-king” – a pun referring to his 4 years of busking on the streets. He was also a graduate of the prestigious Howon University in South Korea, an elite institution with an acceptance rate of 262 rejections for every 1 acceptance! He’s a Hard Worker – To The Point That He Was Actually Hospitalised Multiple Times!

He has been hospitalised twice in the same week, once on the 28th of May and then on the 3rd of June. Being a professional, the artist reportedly pushed through a performance on The Show (28th May) despite being a little under the weather. After winning the competition, he was taken to the hospital when his condition worsened. He was then released from the hospital after receiving an IV drip. On the second occasion, a report by AllKpop indicated that Swing Ent. (Kim Jae Hwan’s agency) made a statement saying the artist did not fully recover from the previous sickness and was hospitalised again for the same reasons. What a dedicated person! But of course we hope that he will get adequate rest when he’s feeling under the weather.

There was an instance where a person who said that he knew Jae Hwan personally actually claimed that the artist bullied him when they were studying in the same middle-school. He said that because of Jae Hwan, he had suffered a lot mentally. Jae Hwan’s friends and school mates from that time then stood up for him by saying that the person was wrong and it was just someone looking to defame him.
However, instead of suing the person for malicious intent and defamation, Jae Hwan chose to forgive the person because he said that the posts were a wrong form of expression resulting from attention, and thus, he had chosen to not take any legal action. Also known for being a humble person, fans have spotted that he does not travel around Seoul in those black vans with black-tinted windows, but rather, he takes the public transport instead. There are multiple fan accounts of him riding the Seoul train! There was also a fan account that recounted the time he was in the Chile airport as part of WANNAONE when he saw a fan’s personal documents on the floor and returned it to her. He is such a sweet person!
There we have it, Kim Jae Hwan, the man who needs to be called an all-rounder idol for all of the effort he puts in to make his fans happy. As he told NST before in an interview, he wishes to win a Best Male Singer award one day, and we hope that he really does since we think that he deserves it!
