So, if you are a fan of those Minions in Despicable Me, we have good news and bad news for you. The good news is that Despicable Me 3 is coming soon to our cinemas on 15 June 2017! Woohoo! And because of that, McDonald’s has introduced a few tantalising new items on their menu – think Minion Potatoes, Spicy Chicken McNuggets and Banana Cone!
Now, the sad news is that they are only available in Singapore AND Thailand but not in Malaysia’s McDonald’s. Tell us why you do this, McDonald’s?!
Our neighbours get to enjoy the it’s-too-cute-I-wanna-die meals, but at least we have Minion toys that are available with the Happy Meal purchase… Why lahhh!
Now, of course, the star of their menu is none other than the Minion Potatoes, which looks exactly like how you would imagine it to be.
Yes, it’s potato bites that are shaped like Minions! OMGWTFBBQ!
McDonald’s just released this special set menu on 8 June, which has caused many netizens to go crazy over these cute spuds.
Because we are part of the millennial generation, no meal is complete if you didn’t take photos before eating. In fact, it has already generated its very own hashtag on Instagram #minionpotatoes, which everyone uses to share photos of their cute little bites in various creative poses.
And since it’s not available here, you can bet that we rushed our way down to Singapore to get a taste of the adorable goodness!
Now, fast food chains are notorious for their ‘for illustration purposes’ ads, but thankfully, not this time! The minion potatoes turned out as adorable as you’d imagine!
The potatoes are also actually not as crispy as they may seem, which isn’t a bad thing because we definitely enjoyed the softer, fluffier texture! Plus, call us jakun, but we didn’t know Singapore’s chilli sauce tasted different – think the chilli we use for dim sum, which has a garlicky taste. It’s a good combination with these potatoes though!
RIP!
These cute potatoes are sold for SGD2 for 6 pieces. So that’s almost like RM1 for each!!! Spend once in a while okay lah right? Do it for the gram!
If you guys are ever in Thailand or Singapore, don’t forget these new treats that McDonald’s Malaysia has forgotten to include! T_T
