In a recent raid gone wrong, MBPJ authorities and TNB personnel accidentally ended up killing mass amounts of fish in a pet store at Petaling Jaya after mistaking the premise for an illegal gambling den.
The TNB personnel who were tasked on the scene to cut off the electricity of a location that was suspected to be an illegal gambling site mixed up the floors of the premise and ended up cutting off the power of a second-floor pet fish store instead of the ground floor gambling site.
“The address given was correct and the police went down to check the listed premises. There were two electricity boxes located next to each other and TNB accidentally made the wrong power cut,” said PJ District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Nik Ezanee Mohd Faisal in a statement recorded by Harian Metro.
However, according to the owner of the pet shop, the signboard and banner located next to the electricity box clearly stated that the second floor was occupied by the pet fish shop. “Due to this negligence, I have suffered losses because a lot of my fish died. Today’s provisions are completely destroyed and the shop has no electricity until 4:30pm. Who will be responsible?”, said the owner in a Facebook post.
The owner even included a video captured by Harian Metro, which clearly documents how the pet shop’s sign was right next to the TNB personnel who were in the process of prying open the grill protecting the electricity box.
WORLD OF BUZZ contacted the owner of the pet shop and we were told that TNB has since reached out to them regarding the matter. Discussions on how the situation should be handled are reportedly going smoothly between both parties.
